▶ CHARACTER
NAME: Qih'sae Moui (Warrior of Light)
CANON: FFXIV
CANON POINT: 5.2
AGE: 26
BACKGROUND:
- A Keeper of the Moon, Qih'sae was his mother's fourth son, leading to him often being fed last and bullied by his older, rowdier siblings.
- Leaves the tribe at a young age with the older males to form their own mini-tribe (of poachers.)
- Weak and scrawny, Qih'sae was mostly dead weight so his fathers abandon him in Gridania as a teen.
- Qih'sae winds up conscripted into the Adders, who pay him with food and rent in exchange for selling out poachers. It's not a bad life.
- Inevitably sells out his family by accident, which leads to him dropping the Adders and becoming a conjurer at around age 17, where he discovers he has a talent for magic.
- Becomes an adventurer/wandering healer for a few years until the Calamity happens. (He is 20 at the time)
- The Calamity awakens his Echo, though he's too busy trying to help people at this time to really pay much attention it.
- He spends the next five years healing and adventuring with Ul'dah as his hub, until the fateful day where he meets Thancred Waters and winds up joining the Scions of the Seventh Dawn...

Finally, here's link to a more detailed bio with a bunch of added details as far as Qih'sae's motivations, his past, and how things affected him, etc.
In addition to these, Qih'sae is a White Mage and has completed all its relevant job quests. He's done the same for Red Mage. He started and finished his Thaumaturge quests, but never got as far as Black Mage.
He cannot craft at all, but has done a fair bit of fishing outside of the basics taught by the Fisherman's Guild.
In keeping with his hijinks, he has completed all Hildebrand quests, but is friend only to the Vath. He just has kind of a short attention span.
PERSONALITY:Qih'sae has himbo mage energy. At least he tries to project that, anyway. He just can't resist tasting new (sometimes inedible) things or talking about how much he loves his friends. He takes most tragedy with a smile, believing in the power of optimism to overcome life's pain. (Thanks, Haurchefant.) While that optimism certainly gets tried as more and more tragedies happen around him, he knows he carries the fate of multiple worlds on his shoulders. He'd never willingly let his friends down, much less leave them if there's even a chance that they can be saved.
He wasn't always like this, though. After leaving Gridania to become an adventurer, Qih'sae trusted no one but himself. He was closed off and quiet, observing strangers as marks or enemies rather than people. He'd been raised by poachers after all, and while he felt the sting of betraying them, he reasoned that they'd abandoned him first -- it was just desserts. This began to change after the Seventh Umbral Calamity. Great tragedy has a way of bringing out the best in people, after all. Where he once believed he could only rely on himself, others began aiding himself and other refugees simply for the sake of it. Seeing this kind of altruism made him want to try it for himself, and while it didn't last forever (it didn't pay the bills, after all,) he'd never felt lighter.
It's a good thing for the realm that the Scions of the Seventh Dawn showed up when they did. Thanks to them, Qih'sae began opening up and trusting others, or at the very least trusting them. Through the many victories and tragedies shared with the Scions, Qih'sae let himself be vulnerable, and started to see each member of the Scions as his family. Sure, sometimes they went behind peoples' backs (Urianger) or got possessed (Thancred) or even died to keep the realm safe (where do I even start,) but for the first time since his childhood, Qih'sae had a group of people who cared about him. Even as he grew stronger and saved the realm countless times, Tataru would always be there to make him a new outfit, and F'lhaminn would still listen to him if he needed to vent his frustrations.
Nowadays when he's not playing the hero to the realm, Qih'sae really just enjoys slacking off. Sure, he wants to do good. Some part of him feels he owes it all of the people who have died for him. From Haurchefant to Ardbert and yes even Emet-Selch, Qih'sae feels the weight of his life in everything he does. But sometimes, he just wants to fish or hang out with the Vath or go pet an Amaro. He will keep smiling, keep inspiring, keep living, for those he has lost and those he can yet save, but his friends didn't die so that he could give up on living. He'll spend most of his money on glamour and shiny furniture, (because he deserves to treat himself,) but at least now he'd never dream of letting someone deal with an injury if he can heal it. It's just not an option when you're the Warrior of Light.
For all that he's almost mastered this adventuring thing, Qih'sae can be disorganized, and is definitely not the best planner. He's always been good at following orders and letting others tell him where his help is needed. He's more of a reactive thinker, favoring a calm response to a pre-planned attack. Growing up, he was always the best at turning a bad situation around, and now that he's a healer, that skill has only increased tenfold.
Despite growing up in Gridania, Qih'sae is very open-minded, and yes, likes to try everything at least once. It's hard to say what makes him more reckless -- the fact that he's a healer, so he'll probably be fine, or the fact that he has the echo, so if he's ever about to eat something that'll kill him, then he'll just get a vision and spare himself the pain!* (*This is not proven and will probably get him killed for a stupid reason someday.)
When he's not adventuring, Qih'sae enjoys decorating his apartment, fishing (incredibly, it's very calming,) and hanging out in the Immortal Flames barracks, where he is often caught trying to pretend to be a regular officer until someone blows his cover and he has to make a quick escape.
I feel like I should include a bit on how Shadowbringers changed him, but the truth is he was at his absolute sassiest for Shadowbringers. Charging blindly ahead, often at his own expense, Qih'sae was at his most on point when it came to saving Norvandt. If anything, his struggles on the first have only solidified how much Qih'sae cares about his friends from the Source, and how important saving everyone is to him now. He'll just do it with a smile and maybe after he tastes a few rocks first.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
As the Warrior of Light, Qih'sae has several abilities! Here's the gist:
- The Echo, which grants him the ability to see into people's memories and pasts, often experiencing them as they themselves did. (This power would obviously need OOC permission to trigger and can't be used voluntarily anyway.) It also allows him to understand all forms of communication, so long as the being attempting to communicate possesses a soul. Additionally, the ability to see into the future extends to AOE markers and allows him to sometimes "see" where an attack is going to come from, but this can be toned down to suit.
- White Magic - Qih'sae is an adept healer well-versed in white magic. This includes all the bells and whistles, curse, assize, glare, dia, you name it. He can "resurrect" though it's really more like a "wake up someone who's unconscious" than a back-from-the-dead spell, otherwise plenty of his friends would still be alive by now.
- Red Magic - Having dabbled in Thaumaturgy (for Swiftcast, back in the day,) Qih'sae learned enough black magic to be a more than decent Red Mage, under the tutelage of X'ruhn Tia. He prefers to avoid physical confrontation so he only uses his melee combo when strictly necessary, but he has access to the full arsenal of Dualcast, ver-spells and the like. Obviously this and his other spells can and will be toned down in terms of strength because it's no fun to cast Fleche and insta-kill all his enemies.
- Kojin Blessing - Yes, the Warrior of Light can breathe underwater.
- Healer - This isn't a power per-se, but as the designated healer, Qih'sae is pretty squishy and will go down in about 2 direct hits from an enemy that's strong enough. To compensate, his magical ability is extremely strong! Just don't hit him, please.
INVENTORY:
- 1 lvl 80 WHM staff - (glamoured to look like a Lost Allagan Cane)
- 1 lvl 80 RDM Foil and Focus
- 1 Fishing Rod
- 2 Job stones WHM&RDM (they're very small)
- 99 Glamour prisms (they will be useless, but oh well.)
